Rome (VNA) – Vietnamese ambassador to Italy Nguyen Thi Bich Hue paid a working visit to the Veneto region to promote economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

At their meeting with Roberto Marcato, the Veneto City Councilor for Economic Development, both sides agreed to the cooperation agreement of Vietnam’s southern province Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Veneto in 2018, particularly in the areas of tourism, seaports, renewable energies and the digital economy.

Both sides will help prepare the meeting of the Vietnam-Italy Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation and other socio-economic events on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 10th strategic partnership, in particular through the online form.

Hue also met with Tiziana Lippiello, Rector of the University of Ca ‘Foscari, and Albrecht Benno, Rector of the Iuav University of Venice to discuss collaboration in higher education and scientific research.

On this occasion, the ambassador attended a ceremony to present a book on the experience of Vietnam and Cuba in the fight against COVID-19, organized by the chapters of the friendship associations Italy-Vietnam and Italy-Cuba in Veneto.

She also presented Pham Hung Vuong, former President of the Vietnamese Students’ Union in Italy, with a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s State Commission on Vietnamese Overseas Affairs for his contribution to connecting students from both countries.

Almost 100 Vietnamese students are studying at universities in the Italian region./.
