American Queen Voyages embarks on first Yucatán cruise, winter sales

Passengers boarded the Ocean Voyager (ex Victory I) in Cozumel on Wednesday after arriving the day before for their first land adventure. You will visit destinations like Campeche, Progreso (for Mérida) and Valladolid. Highlights of this inaugural trip include a visit to the El Gran Museo del Mundo Maya de Mérida and two nights at the Mayaland Hotel next to Chichén Itzá with the opportunity to see the sunrise over the Temple of Kukulkan.

Ocean Voyager will operate four of these cruises before returning to the southeastern United States for round-trip cruises on Amelia Island (Fernandina Beach).

Expand beyond the rivers

“Expanding our experience beyond US river cruises to immersive international small ship itineraries has been a corporate goal for some time and it is exciting to now bring our guests these new content-rich cultural adventures,” said Shawn Bierdz, chief operating officer, American Queen Travel . “Later this year we’ll be doing Southeastern US voyages, routes to all five of the Great Lakes, an inaugural Alaskan expedition season with Ocean Victory, and more.”

Winter savings event

A new “Winter Savings Event” offers up to USD 5,400 in bonus savings per cabin for bookings made by February 28 on select trips.

Eligible itineraries include the nine-day Heartland Splendors on the Ohio River (Cincinnati-Memphis). Highlights include the River Jewel Paducah, Kentucky, a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Art, and Brandenburg, Kentucky, with the option to visit the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park, tour the Lincoln Museum, and see the legacy of General George explore Patton at Fort Knox

New England Splendors (Portland, Maine-Toronto) is a 13-day voyage across the St. Lawrence Seaway and Lake Ontario, calling at ports such as Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Quebec City and Montreal.

Splendor of the Great Lakes (Chicago-Toronto) is an 11-day exploration of all five Great Lakes with exclusive embarkation or disembarkation at Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. A highlight is Mackinac Island, a National Historic Landmark where horses and bicycles are the main mode of transportation and a stop at the famous Grand Hotel is a must. Ports include Little Current (Manitoulin Island), Ontario; Detroit, Cleveland and Port Colborne (Niagara Falls).

Alaska on new expedition ship

“Authentic Alaska” (Vancouver, BC-Sitka) This 12 or 13 day adventure (depending on direction) aboard the brand new expedition ship Ocean Victory calls at remote ports that are inaccessible to large ships. Travelers can explore Kake’s native Tlingit community. Destinations include Fiordland (Kynoch Inlet), Ketchikan / Metlakatla, Misty Fjords National Monument, Waterfall Coast, Petersburg, Tracy / Endicott Arm; Kake / Frederick Sound and Sitka. Departures are possible in May, June, July, August and September.
