With Delphina Hotels & Resorts receiving a number of top titles at the World Travel Awards, Breaking Travel News is chatting here with Elena Muntoni, Brand Manager of the Sardinian company, to find out more
Latest Travel News: Congratulations on your success in the World Travel Awards, where Delphina Hotels & Resorts have won a number of top awards. The Resort & Spa Le Dune has defended the title of Italy’s leading beach resort. How does it feel to have won there?
Elena Muntoni: To be voted Italy’s Leading Beach Resort for the second time and in such a special year fills us with pride and we sincerely thank all our supporters.
The eight kilometer long beach section of Li Junchi, directly in front of the Resort & Spa Le Dune, makes our offer unique and perfect for couples looking for relaxation and families looking for fun.
This blue flag beach with white sand is also very popular with guests who like to take long walks in almost deserted areas or do water sports.
The sand dunes behind the beach have fascinating vegetation populated by juniper, water lilies and other essences, while the breathtaking view extends from Isola Rossa Island to Asinara Island.
The resort is highly valued for the opportunity to choose from five hotels, ten restaurants, an elegant spa, a children’s village and many free sports activities.
We are also very proud of our farm with vegetable garden, orchard, vineyard and olive grove to get to know the typical plants and cultures that adults and children can visit for leisure activities to learn and appreciate nature while exploring and enjoying the Mediterranean plants picking the vegetables eaten in restaurants.
Breaking Travel News: At the same time, the entire company was honored with the trophy for Italy’s leading hotel group. What do you think caught the voters’ attention?
EM: To win this award is more than a simple recognition.
It confirms our commitment and our passion for almost 30 years and further strengthens the direction of our future actions.
Our business philosophy is customer-oriented hospitality, rooted in the Sardinian tradition, which makes guests feel really welcome and at home.
We treat our guests like our friends who come to us and design everything around their comfort.
Our common goal is to give you a real experience, understanding and taste of Sardinia. Every moment of the vacation becomes an opportunity to get in touch with our traditions and have authentic experiences.
This is very important to all of us at Delphina Hotels & Resorts.
We are a family-run chain with a collection of 4-, 4-superior and 5-star destinations in northern Sardinia, all directly on the sea and surrounded by the green of the Mediterranean maquis between the Costa Smeralda, the archipelago of La Maddalena and the Gulf from Asinara.
First and foremost, being Sardinia made us ambassadors for our country.
The spirit of hospitality and the desire to protect this natural paradise are part of our DNA, which is why we are committed to sustainability and respect for nature from the start.
For example, Delphina Hotels & Resorts is the first Italian hotel chain to use 100 percent certified green energy from entirely renewable sources as part of the âWe Are Greenâ philosophy, a collection of best practices and initiatives for territorial improvement.
We are happy to save 3,536 tons of CO2 every year.
We have also given all employees reusable water bottles to refill in specially installed fountains and replaced single-use plastic water bottles for guests with glass bottles and recyclable cans.
Every season we save 68,700 plastic bottles.
Latest travel news: The Valle dell’Erica Thalasso & Spa resort was ultimately voted Europe’s leading green resort. How important is sustainability for your company?
EM: The unique landscape of Sardinia is our greatest treasure and has always been the core of our projects.
Winning this title for the third time is proof that we are definitely on the right track. It is the signal of how it is possible to offer an increasingly environmentally friendly vacation that respects and enhances the areas.
Right from the start, we were determined to fit every single building harmoniously into nature and to see it at first glance.
The Valle dell’Erica Thalasso & Spa resort is a true oasis of nature in northern Sardinia.
In a 28 hectare nature park with fragrant scrubland, along a 1,400 m long pristine, glittering coastline, sandy beaches and wind-carved bays directly in front of the Strait of Bonifacio, Corsica and the international marine reserve of the La Maddalena archipelago.
As an exclusive place in the heart of the Mediterranean, the resort is the perfect choice to experience a complete beach holiday in Sardinia with tailor-made services and facilities for all guests who enjoy a 5-star leisure vacation, as we like to say: the charm and the luxury the best five star hotel, but less formal.
Breaking Travel News: How would you describe the mood in Italian tourism as you prepare for next summer – will these victories be a stepping stone to a full recovery in 2022?
EM: This summer we noticed a great desire for Italy and for holidays in Sardinia, with more attention to all aspects of safety and the possibility of enjoying a free holiday in large open spaces.
Since last year we have been successfully implementing simple and clear procedures for all hotels and resorts in order to offer our guests a quiet and comfortable stay.
We believe in a gradual recovery in tourism, including international travel, so we will be planning renovation and redesign work as usual in all of our hotels and resorts.
We are sure that these international awards will be a stepping stone to a full recovery and proof that a quality vacation that respects the nature and culture of this island is the winner.
