Bryce Fins has something to say.
In an exclusive interview with Page Six, the Love Island USA contestant sheds light on ex-Courtney Boerner’s claims that he has shown “disrespect” by disregarding her desire for physical intimacy.
“For as long as I can remember … it was a night where we were just really exhausted,” he says, sharing his side of the story.
“We still kissed, we were still passionate and intimate with each other — but it just wasn’t for the duration that we had the nights before.”
Fins believes their abbreviated bedtime smooch planted a “small seed of doubt” in Boerner’s mind about their potential as a couple.
Previously, the couple was hot and heavy. The brunette beauty’s head turned to Fins rather quickly upon his late arrival at the villa, eventually dumping then-partner Felipe Gomes for the hot new bombshell.
Fins and Boerner’s physical chemistry was explosive; They often accommodated her fondness for PDAs. More importantly, the self-proclaimed “Italian Stallion” and the fashion stylist seemed to connect on an emotional level that wasn’t present in their relationship with Gomes.
“My experience with her, especially early and in the middle of my time there, was extremely positive. We were voted “Most Boring Couple” because we hit it off and got along so well physically, intellectually and emotionally,” Fins says.
“We really just bonded and everything we shared with each other,” he adds. “I felt really good [with her] apparently.”
Therefore, according to Fins, Boerner’s claim that he “rolled his eyes” at her was a pure misunderstanding.
“When I ‘rolled my eyes’ at her, I was lying in bed and I was like, ‘Hey, do you want to talk? Because it seems like you’re a little scared or a little stressed. You seem a bit off.’ And she said, ‘No, I don’t want to talk now,'” he recalls. “She has her hand on my neck and I didn’t even roll my eyes. I was just like, ‘I know you want to talk about something, I sense something is wrong.’”
He claims the interaction was “playful” and he doesn’t recall rolling his eyes “on any other occasion” during his time at the villa.
“And in my opinion, I’ve definitely never been disrespectful,” says Fins.
The Los Angeles-based finance executive says he and Boerner, who also lives in LA, have had separate discussions about the hiccups in their romance.
“The second interview was shorter and it was close to elimination. She said: “Of course we’ll see. We’ll take it one day at a time like we always have. But my feelings for you haven’t changed. I don’t see myself turning around,” he says.
“She was basically just saying, ‘That upset me, that’s what I’d like to change.’ And that was primarily being passionate at night and making sure their love languages are addressed, which I was absolutely there for and respect.”
Had he not been voted off the Peacock reality series in a surprise elimination, Fins feels he and Boerner would have survived the recent Casa Amor episodes — and might even have won the title of “America’s Favorite Couple.”
“I feel like what I had with Courtney was very real and not something that happens — easily, even in this accelerated experience,” he says. “On my side, I would have been faithful and stayed true to the relationship and made sure I didn’t do anything to jeopardize it too much.”
Fins elaborates: “I think we would have survived. We might have had more opportunities to talk about our feelings and our way of handling the problem we had… But that’s not how the cards fell.”
As the depraved watches the rest of the season, he’s not confident that Boerner will find a connection as strong as theirs. She is currently pursuing Chad Robinson after trying Jordan Morello.
“I don’t like to compare myself to other people,” Fins says of the newcomers. “But I know the way she and I started feels stronger than what I’ve seen her and anyone else do.”
“Love Island USA” – hosted by Sarah Hyland – is available to stream on Peacock. New episodes drop Tuesday through Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET.
