Field set for the Mitsubishi Electric Championship golf tournament in Hualālai


The field of 42 players is set for next week’s Mitsubishi Electric Championship in Hualālai.

Tournament rounds are scheduled for January 20-22 when the PGA TOUR Champions return to the Big Island for the 26th year running.

“We look forward to presenting the Aloha Golf Legends against the scenic backdrop of the Hualalai Golf Course,” said Tournament Manager Kelly Fliear. “The combination of World Golf Hall of Fame members, great champions, past tournament winners and first-timers to Hualālai makes this a truly unique event.”

Six Hall of Famers will tee off in Hualālai next week, including reigning Charles Schwab Cup winner and three-time tournament winner Bernhard Langer. Tom Watson, who won this event in 2010, is also a Hall of Famer in this area, along with Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Mark O’Meara and Vijay Singh.

Seven players will be making their Hualālai debuts, including former World No. 1 David Duval, who is making his PGA TOUR Champions debut. Alex Cejka and Stephen Dodd, winners of the Senior Majors in 2021, will join Steven Alker, Cameron Beckman, Rod Pampling and Dicky Pride as first-time attendees at this event.


Defending champion Darren Clarke returns, aiming to become the first consecutive winner of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship since moving to Hualālai in 1997. 2018 champion Jerry Kelly and Jim Furyk.


The season-opening field includes 18 PGA TOUR Major winners, 21 PGA TOUR Champions Major winners, 32 PGA TOUR winners and 41 PGA TOUR Champions winners.

All three rounds of the championship will be broadcast live on GOLF Channel. Tickets are only available at the box office and must be paid for without cash.
