Milan menswear previews for Fall / Winter 2021-22 are returning to a mostly personal format in January, with Zegna, Giorgio Armani, Fendi and Prada being among the 22 brands hosting live catwalk shows, the Milanese moderat announced on Monday.
Italian National Chamber of Fashion President Carlo Capasa said the success of the women’s apparel calendar in September with more than 40 live catwalk previews shows that “catwalk shows can be safely organized with social distancing and face masks.”
“We have to be very careful. The pandemic is still here, “Capasa said at a digital press conference.
In Italy, the number of new coronavirus cases has increased in recent weeks, but hospital admissions remain below critical thresholds.
The January 14-18 calendar also includes 24 in-person presentations, with only nine brands opting for a digital presentation. London-based JW Anderson is one of six brands to debut on the catwalk in Milan.
The confirmation of the Milan calendar comes just days after the British Fashion Council announced that its menswear shows would not take place in January due to COVID and that they would be consolidated with the womenswear calendar in February.
