The highly contagious Omicron variant of the coronavirus is spreading rapidly in Italy, with new cases identified in the north and south of the country, the National Health Institute (ISS) said on Saturday. Continue reading

Italy reported 97 coronavirus-related deaths on Sunday up from 123 the previous day, the Ministry of Health said, while the daily number of new infections fell from 28,064 to 24,259.

Italian prosecutors on Saturday ordered the seizure of components destined for the production of Boeing (BA.N) 787 aircraft that they said did not meet technical specifications requested by the customer. The parts were made by two small companies that were previously sub-suppliers to Leonardo.

TELEKOM ITALY (TIM) (TLIT.MI)

The managing director of the luxury group Marcello Tassinari will resign with effect from December 31, the company announced on Friday.

ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA (not listed)

Organic growth is a priority for the Italian luxury group, its chairman La Stampa and Corriere della Sera said on Monday as the company debuts on the New York Stock Exchange.

In a separate interview with la Repubblica newspaper, he said the group will consider acquisitions when the opportunity arises, but added that the company has “so much room for organic growth” that it is in no rush to buy have.

In a separate interview with the Corriere della Sera, Zegna said he was not ruling out listing in Italy, but there were no plans to do so.
