Jaishankar meets colleagues from Korea and Australia on the fringes of UNGA


Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met with his counterparts from Korea, Italy and Australia on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Jaishankar met his South Korean counterpart Chung Eui-Yong and had extensive discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations, including the South Policy and India’s Act East Policy.

“I am happy to meet FM Chung Eui-Yong from the Republic of Korea. An in-depth conversation about various aspects of our relationship. RoK’s New Southern Policy and India’s Act East Policy have strengthened our convergence in the Indo-Pacific, ”Jaishankar tweeted.

While interacting with his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio, he spoke about challenges related to vaccine accessibility and smooth travel.

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio is the current G20 chairman.

“Discussed challenges related to vaccine accessibility and smooth travel. Look forward to joining him in a discussion on Afghanistan tomorrow,” he tweeted.

Jaishankar also met his Australian counterpart Marise Payne and spoke about the latest developments in the Indo-Pacific.
