LIHU’E – Faye Tangonan, Ms. Universe International from 2018-2019, is entering a new competition as she seeks to earn her eighth title should she advance to the finals on August 3rd.
Tangonan said it will virtually represent Hawaii at the fourth annual Mrs. Tourism International Pageant. Public voting for her and other candidates on social media ends July 20th.
“This pandemic is really a great example to show what is really important in life – spreading the love that is within us,” said Tangonan. “It is the antidote to the great suffering that is being experienced around the world.”
The virtual pageant is led by Ovette Ricalde from MegaStar Productions. Tangonan is supported by 29 other women from around the world.
The Lihu’e mother of three Keiki is also a philanthropist and humanist. Tangonan has its own foundation, the Faye Tangonan International Youth Foundation. Its mission is to spread compassion and kindness around the world.
She also owns a restaurant and resort business with her father, Judge Eugenio Tangonan, in Claveria, Cagayan, Philippines, where she comes from. Tangonan is also active with various Filipino associations in Hawai’i. She currently works as a broker at Kaua’i Realty and is the goodwill ambassador for the Filipino community for the state.
Tangonan received seven other titles: Ms. Philippines Earth 2018, Mrs. Hawai’i Filipina 2017, Mrs. Kaua’i Filipina 2018, Ms. Earth Saver Hawai’i 2019, Mrs. Gawad International 2017 and Ms. Queen AmerAsia Universe 2019.
She is also an actress. She won three international awards for Best Supporting Actress at the Festigious Film Festival in Hollywood, the Oniros International Film Festival in Italy and the Tagore International Film Festival in India.
Tangonan has also received several other awards including the Filipino Empowered Woman of the Year, Philippine Faces of Success, Manila’s Best Dressed, Forbes Ambassador of Style, Gawad America and Outstanding Woman of the Year, along with other celebrities, and the Iconic International Women Awards in India.
According to Tangonan, she will also receive the Laguna Excellence Award next November and has been appointed Ambassador for the international advancement of women by the United Nations.
“I am very excited to accept this new title and journey as I share my advocacy and inspire others,” said Tangonan. “To all the dreamers out there, pursue your dreams, believe in yourself and never give up.”
