The Asia Cup Trophy is touring Sharjah ahead of the tournament


The Asia Cup starts on Saturday August 27th and the final will take place on September 11th.

The stunning Asian Cup trophy has concluded a tour of Sharjah visiting some of the emirate’s most famous landmarks.

Organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the golden trophy was photographed Mleiha Desert, Al-Rafisah Dam, Al-Noor Island, as well as Khorfakkan Waterfall, Khorfakkan Beach and the Khorfakkan Amphitheater.

The tour culminated in the icon Sharjah Cricket StadiumVenue for four key Asian Cup matches where students from Sharjah Cricket Academy had the unique opportunity to pose with their parents and coaches with the trophy.

Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah said: “A trophy tour is a great way to get fans excited for the upcoming Asian Cup matches, which will be played at two iconic stadiums in Sharjah and Dubai. We are grateful to the SCTDA for offering us some spectacular locations to present the trophy and making it a memorable experience for all.”

“Since we announced this Asian Championship 2022‘s move to the UAE, we have had unwavering support from the authorities and we invite fans across the UAE to come and see their favorite stars in action,” he added.

His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister for Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, unveiled the trophy at a special ceremony last week.

HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, said: “Sharjah Tourism is committed to increasing meaningful contribution to the economy and society by supporting gestures that unite different segments of the community that play a key role in promoting the emirate , by highlighting the unparalleled natural landscapes and cultural scenes that make Sharjah a popular travel destination locally and globally.

He added: “The Authority is keen to work with local and international stakeholders to achieve its strategic goal of developing and promoting Sharjah as an ideal destination for sustainable, cultural and sporting tourism as the emirate attracts more and more tourists is a major tourist destination of major events throughout the year. Additionally, Sharjah Cricket Stadium has hosted cricket memories for many decades and has proudly lived up to its reputation as the home of cricket in the United Arab Emirates. We wish the competing teams the best of luck in the upcoming games.”

The Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and Sharjah from August 27th to September 11th.
