Have you ever wondered what it would be like to step into Leonardo Da Vinci’s workshop?
As far-fetched as it may seem, Vancouver offers a new experience that will transport you back to the heart of the Renaissance, where you can discover the ingenuity of some of Da Vinci’s most ambitious inventions.
To celebrate the 500th anniversary of Da Vinci’s death in 2019, The Da Vinci Experience – one of the Crossmedia Group’s best-known productions – travels the globe and has attracted the attention of over three million people worldwide.
Now the remarkable installation is making its first North American appearance in Vancouver, where locals can get up close and personal with some of the mastermind’s greatest ideas.
Sensea Immersive’s first Canadian exhibit is now open at Tsawwassen Mills Mall. Planned and executed while in business, the company took an “edutainment” approach to its new installation.
Hundreds of years later, Da Vinci’s work still inspires awe and inspiration. As guests walk through the exhibition, they can experience the breadth and deep legacy of this groundbreaking child prodigy.
The Da Vinci Experience is staged in Tsawwassen Mills and offers four different experiences, including a comprehensive 360-degree journey through the peculiar life and famous apparatuses of the Renaissance man and a virtual reality visit to his Florence studio.
Of the Mona Lisa to the Vitruvian man and his flying machine, you will encounter the creations of the Italian artist and inventor like never before.
“We have combined technology and art into a multi-sensory journey into the mind and genius of Leonardo Da Vinci that is meant to delight all ages,” said Mick Kelly, Vice President of Sensea Immersive. “We also have a groundbreaking school program built into the exhibit, with a curriculum developed by teachers for teachers, which is a first in Canada.”
Its virtual reality technology allows you to step foot into the world of Da Vinci and immerse yourself in the artist’s masterpieces and incredible machines. The interactive reproductions come from Florence and allow you to experience history in a unique way.
You can also expect all of your senses to be stimulated with the exhibit’s digital displays, sound effects, and projection mapping. Just imagine the floors and walls covered in larger-than-life images of the influential artist’s vast and wondrous collection of works.
This exhibition was produced under the exclusive license of the Crossmedia Group of Italy and is curated by the director of the Leonardian Museum, Roberta Barsanti, in Vinci, Italy, and features reproductions of his greatest works. To date, it has been presented to more than three million visitors worldwide.
It takes about an hour to explore the family-friendly affair. Due to COVID restrictions, guests are asked to respect this deadline in order to create a safe and spacious environment where everyone can learn and be amazed.
All recommendations from the provincial health ministry are being followed, and staff have a COVID plan and training for additional safety.
