The vaccination campaign is proving effective in Jamaica, says PM Holness

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made public awareness tours of COVID-19 vaccination and vaccine mobilization on the island. These tours have helped the government increase the percentage of the island’s vaccinated population.

These prime ministerial tours create greater awareness of the safety and effectiveness of vaccines among the people of Jamaica. Vaccine uptake is also increasing in the country.

Prime Minister Skerrit said, “I believe the engagement has been effective in reassuring people that the government understands their concerns, that it is trying to raise awareness and knowledge about vaccines, and that the government will respect and serve their rights explain why it (vaccination) is necessary. “

While his address in St. Mary during the hiatus of his educational trips said that he has traveled across the country raising the various concerns of Jamaicans regarding vaccinations. PM Holness also trained people on how to take the COVID-19 vaccine as it is the only weapon in the present to fight the highly contagious COVID-19 virus.

PM Holness went on to explain that it (vaccination tour) is working. They had a higher level of knowledge. They took an excellent pace to grow, but the government must practice tolerance as they go through the public education stage and informing its citizens.

According to Prime Minister Holness’s statement, the government had put in place many curfews and lockdowns in the country, and when they were lifted during the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, to contain its spread and protect its people. Still, Jamaicans weren’t safe until they all got vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

The island-wide mobilization of vaccinations and public educational trips are part of the government’s efforts to encourage more Jamaicans to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
