Vancouver Island MusicFest announces the first lineup announcement for the 2022 event

Vancouver Island MusicFest has made the first artist announcements for this year’s lineup.

Folk singer-songwriter Ferron, Nigerian Afrobeat artist Femi Kuti and his band The Positive Force, British group The Blues Band, jazz and soul singer John Boutté and country punk band Jr. Gone Wild will all perform at the Vancouver Island MusicFest in 2022.

The in-person event will take place July 8-10 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds.

The festival is very special for Blues Band guitarist and vocalist Dave Kelly.

“Dave performed at [Vancouver Island] Musikfest three times and has also announced this publicly [our] Music Fest is his favorite festival of all time,” said Doug Cox, artistic director and executive producer of Vancouver Island MusicFest. “When Dave reached out and told me they were on their last tour as a band and offered to play their last concert on our farewell tour [Vancouver Island] MusicFest. Bingo. I’ve been a fan of The Blues Band since I was a kid.”

The festival has been held online for the past two years.

“It’s rewarding and heartwarming to have our core team working together again at the festival after these past few years,” said Cox. “As is our tradition, we book outstanding artists from all over the world and from close to home. The first five artists we are announcing today are truly representative of the diversity of artists who embody who we are at Musikfest, and this is just the beginning.”

Tickets are available and more details on the artists can be found here.
